INGREDIENTS:
- 1 Medium Cocoa Tea stick (can also be shredded on a grater)
- 2 Cups Water
- 2 Cups Milk (milk of your choice: coconut, regular, etc)
- 2 Bay Leaves
- 1 Cinnamon Stick
- 1 Teaspoon Grated Nutmeg
- Sugar sweetener of your choice to taste
- Arrowroot or Flour to thicken (Optional)
METHOD/DIRECTIONS:
Bring Cocoa, water, cinnamon stick and bay leaves to a
boil. Boil for 10-15 minutes until cocoa is dissolved.
Stir in milk and grated nutmeg.
Add Sugar to taste.
If you prefer a thicker version, you can add a
tablespoon of arrowroot or flour to the water mixture after the chocolate
and sugar has dissolved. Let the flour and water boil for a few minutes
until the mixture thickens.
The oily sheen floating on the top
of this “tea” is actually coco butter from the chocolate. The fat from the
chocolate butter enhances the intensity of the roasted cocoa beans without
making the drink feel in any way greasy. It is a rich drink, so only a small
amount is necessary! Sip slowly and enjoy!
